In various works of contemporary art images, objects, music, sound and language interact in very different ways; a distinct boundary between static and moving forms of art is disappearing, making way for a complexity of different temporal structures. The focus of the show Listen to the Image, Look at the Sound lies on the artistic ways of dealing with visual and acoustic environments and with sound and noises beyond composed musical forms. But what remains of our perception of the environment, when images and sounds, much like all otherdigitalized data, can be manipulated arbitrarily? In cooperation with the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft:Presentation of the new vinyl edition of Herbert von Karajan’s 1963 recording of the nine Beethoven symphonies, designed by the artist Gregor Hildebrandt. Julia Bünnagel and Catherine Lorent will contribute new interpretations of Beethovens’music with acoustic and electronic instruments.
